TB’s Journal: April 8 - April 19, 2097

April 8 - April 19, 2097

The past couple of weeks have been all about prep. It’s not glamorous, but this Halo gig is a big deal. We fly to Edmonton on the 21st, and the first concert’s on the 23rd, so everything has to be in place by then. This isn’t like pulling off a run—it's about security. Not exactly where I started in this game, but I know what needs to be done. The team isn’t used to this kind of work, but we’re getting there.

We’ve been running drills, setting up security protocols, and figuring out how to cover Halo without making her feel like she’s in a cage. Slag and Fuzzy know how to handle themselves, but protecting a VIP’s a different game from knocking heads in the shadows. Blink’s been around enough to adapt, but I can tell she’d rather be out chasing down her fixer gigs. Can’t blame her, but this kind of money’s hard to pass up. It’s steady work, good pay, and a shiny SIN at the end of it. You don’t say no to that.

Vanya’s another wildcard. She’s powerful, no question, but subtlety isn’t her strong suit. Still, she’s adjusting. Between the drills and strategy sessions, we’ve worked out a system that should keep us all in sync. Tag’s drones are going to be key, and she’s got them rigged up like clockwork. Eclipse and Wizkid are handling the Matrix side—surveillance, comms, making sure nothing sneaks up on us digitally. They’re sharp, and they’ve locked down the Matrix security for the tour venues. Nothing’s slipping through without us knowing.

We’ve also got Halo’s schedule in hand, thanks to JJ. He’s keeping the admin side of things running smoothly, handling the paperwork, and keeping management happy. It’s good to have someone like him in our corner, someone who knows how to make sure the little details don’t trip us up. I trust him to keep things in line while I focus on the team and security setup.

Provolution’s still lurking in the background, but there’s no time for that right now. Wizkid’s been digging into their networks whenever he gets the chance, but it’s more of a side project at the moment. They’re not going anywhere, and I’ll circle back when there’s downtime. For now, the priority is making sure Halo stays safe.

On the personal front, it’s been hard to find much time for Evie. We’ve had a few moments here and there, but most nights I’m so wiped from training the crew that I barely have the energy for anything else. Still, it’s good to know she’s there. Her brother, on the other hand, has been blowing up my feed with messages and VR links. Kid’s got too much time on his hands. I get it, he looks up to me, but it’s starting to get annoying. I’ve got enough on my plate without having to humor him.

We’ve done simulations of different threats—assassination attempts, concert disruptions, even astral threats—so everyone knows their role. It’s starting to come together. No one said running a security op for a global superstar would be easy, but the team’s pulling their weight. I’m confident we’ll be ready.

Serj’s throwing another party soon. I could use the break, but with everything on the line, my mind’s still focused on the tour. Come the 21st, we’ll be on that flight to Edmonton, and it’ll all kick off.
